Helpful Tips for Arranging Your Storage Unit

Make Your Next Long Distance Move A Bit Easier

If you have recently been offered a job in another state and know that it is a great opportunity for you, the thought of having to pack up all of your things and move them may seem a bit daunting. Moving cross country can be a bit of a hassle, but with proper planning, the move can be much easier. The following guide walks you through tips to make moving cross country less chaotic and more enjoyable.

Rent a Moving Container

There are large containers that are available for you to rent for your move. The containers allow you to pack your items when you have time, rather than trying to fit everything into a truck in just a few hours. Be sure that you lock the container every night before you go to bed so that no one can gain access to the items you are storing inside of it.

Gather Your Supplies

You will need boxes, labels, packing tape, foam, bubble wrap, and newspapers when packing for your move. Be sure to wrap breakable items in bubble wrap or newspaper to protect them and store them in a box with the foam to keep them safe.

Label Each Box

As you pack each box, write down exactly what is inside of it and place a label on the exterior of the box. When you move to your new house, it will be much easier to find the items you need when you need them. Once you have labeled all of the boxes, place a number on each and create a master list of all of the boxes. This will allow you to search for a number on the box rather than having to read each individual label when you move.

Pack the Container

Day by day pack items into the container. Be sure to pack large items around the perimeter of the container so that you can use ratchet straps to secure the items to the sides of the container so that they do not fall and break the other things stored inside of it.

Hire a Moving Company

Hire a moving company to transport the container for you across the country. When you arrive to your new home, the movers can then help you bring all of the boxes and furniture into your new home, since you will more than likely not know a lot of people in the area to help you with the process.

Once you have finished unpacking the container, it can be hauled away by the local moving company. All of these tips should make your next big move much easier and allow you to focus on the excitement of living in a new place instead of the hassle of moving.
